At Squamish Watersports we do everything we can to make people of all experience levels feel comfortable. No experience is necessary, just take a lesson and let’s get out on the water with a canoe rental!
OUR LOCATION
We run courses and do rentals from our downtown location 38124 Loggers Lane, Squamish, BC. Our facility is located right on the Blind Channel, where you can use the public dock beside our property to get into the water easily and start paddling. If you are doing a course just come to Squamish Watersports downtown, we’ll get you ready, and the guides will meet you here where you’ll start your course.

The Howe Sound
When you rent a canoe with us, you have the freedom to go anywhere you would like to in the sea-to-sky corridor. The portion of the Howe Sound that Squamish is located on is a very popular spot due to its famous winds perfect for all watersports needing wind! The Howe Sound is often full of kite-surfers, windsurfers, foil borders and sailboats so it is important to take care when paddling out and around. It’s important to remember that kite lines can be up to 25 meters long, so try to stay at least 25m away from these kiters.
The Squamish River
The Squamish River winds its way through many glaciers on its way to the Howe Sound where the cold water pours out. Due to the fact that the river originates from the Pemberton Icefields, wetsuits are needed year-round to keep you safe. The river is home to some of the largest salmon runs in Canada, which take place biannually. The copious amounts of salmon in the river attracts a huge population of otters, seals, sea lions and even larger sea creatures such as porpoises and orcas straight into the Sound.
It is important to remember that the current of the river is strong and that going up the river in one of our rental vessels is not permitted. We will talk about currents the day of your rental.
